The outgoing Honda Civic was Edmonds’ favorite small sedan from that point until the production line rolled off the line in Ohio. While this meant Honda had a good base to start with, any changes risked making the Civic a success in the first place. But we’re glad the new Civic matches or exceeds its predecessor and earns the Edmunds Top Rated Sedan award for 2022.

Honda did not change the key features of the Civic. The new Civic is still impressively comfortable and spacious, and the engines are the same as before. The available turbocharged four-cylinder remains a standout, providing quick acceleration and high fuel economy for a small sedan. Around the bends, the Civic is sporty and fun to drive.
Although subjective, the most welcome change is the styling of the new Civic. The exterior design no longer features fake vents and other clutter that could make the previous car look overstyled. The interiors too have a cleaner and more premium looking design. The list of available technology features grows as well, including a wireless smartphone charging pad and a large 9-inch center touchscreen.
Put it all together and you have a new Civic that delivers an excellent mix of comfort, performance and refinement.
